Thomas Hlawatsch

The Austrian pianist Thomas Hlawatsch started to play the piano at the age of five. He began having lessons on the instrument shortly afterwards, continuing his studies at the University of Music in Vienna, with composition as a supplementary subject. His most important teachers were Alexander Jenner in piano and Alfred Uhl in composition. Thomas Hlawatsch is prize-winner of various piano-competitions like the contest for romantic piano-music Viotti-Valsesia 1983, held in Italy and the international Beethoven-competition 1989, held in Vienna.
